Resources

Here are places where you can find good, reliable health & medical information. As much as I can, I will focus on links to government health agencies, professional medical associations, and nonprofit health organizations.

  • HealthyChildren.org from the American Academy of Pediatrics
  • ChildMind.org – the Child Mind Institute (nonprofit)
  • KidsHealth.org from Nemours (a nonprofit pediatric health system in the eastern US)
  • MedlinePlus.gov from the National Institutes of Health, U.S. National Library of Medicine
  • CDC.gov – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • FamilyDoctor.org from the American Academy of Family Physicians
  • Patient Information Pages from the Journal of the American Medical Association
  • Patient Education Pages from UpToDate (this is a subscription service that provides medical information to doctors, but there is useful patient information I’ve handed out to my patients and family members)

Please note that only the “Beyond the Basics” pages are free. When you click on a topic (for example “Allergies and asthma”) make sure you then click on “Beyond the Basics” so that all the pages listed will be freely available to you

Click “Beyond the Basics” so it is highlighted in blue before you browse the available articles:
